Cycling Club
Abertillery &
District Wheelers is the cycling club of North Gwent.
The club promotes road races, time trials, mountain bike events, touring
and regular club rides.
We meet every Thursday at 7:30pm at the Institute in Powell Street,
Abertillery from October through to March. We still meet every
Thursday from April to September but at 7pm on the A472 Hafodyrynys to
Pontypool road, just beyond the junction with the old A472, for
our weekly 10 mile club time trial. Don't worry about all this talk
of racing! Just turn up at the club evening to watch or join in.
If you fancy a more leisurely pace we also have a club run every
Sunday on the quieter roads. It leaves the Market Square in Brynmawr
at 10am, returning home just in time for lunch.
Saturday is the mountain bikers day. If you fancy getting muddy -
this is for you.
At least once a year we take a much needed stress break in the form of a
touring weekend. This year's tour was five days in France. Next
year
we plan to visit ............somewhere just as exotic. Keep watching
to find out.
If you don't fancy a full week away we usually have an overnight tour.
This year Weston had the dubious pleasure of our clubs overnighter.
Come along and join in there's an event to suit everyone.
