Sunday Club Runs

There's no better way to get fit for the new season than to take part in the Sunday runs.  Don't worry though, they are run at a sensible pace!  As the racing season draws nearer we start to pick up the pace a little.

During the time trial season the Sunday runs continue. Members not racing enjoy the improving weather, if they're lucky!

We set out from the Market Square in Brynmawr at 10am.  Anyone is welcome to join us!  This is a social ride that can literally go anywhere - because we usually get lost.

The "Runs Cup" has been re-instated this year.  "Runs Cup?" I hear you shout.

If you ride a full Sunday club run you get awarded two points towards this prestigious prize.  If you complete part of the ride you get one point.  But here's the real interesting bit.  The club captain, Steve Williams, can and will award extra points for designated activities on the club run e.g. swimming in the sea at Porthcawl in the Winter months!

Pre - Christmas Lunch

On Sunday 12th December we gathered bright and early at the home of Glyn Williams.  Then we worked up an appetite for our Sunday lunch riding about 35 miles on the road.

Our host was Ron Roach, of the Racehorse Inn who is as famous for his cycling as he is for his cooking. (he rode in the Empire Games road race)

Next year book your place early to avoid disappointment!

Club Dinner and Prize Presentation

I'm sorry but you've just missed it.  An excellent evening for all those that attended.  Lawrence Maggs won the top prize in the raffle - a complete Nelson road bike.  Unfortunately and unknown to him, it was his bike.  That will teach him to leave it at Glyns and not collect it.  Click here to see him opening his prize

Boxing Day 8

Eight miles of racing, of sorts, to work off all that Xmas fare.  Starts 11:30am at Hafodyrynys to Pontypool and return.  Fancy dress is optional though not uncommon.
The plan this year  is to visit  the Hafodyrynys Hotel and sample their liquid refreshment after the event!
